Our finest Sonoma County Syrah to date? Along with our 2006, we believe so. Composed of syrah from
Rossi Ranch in Sonoma Valley, Papa’s Block in Russian River Valley, Steiner Vineyard on Sonoma Mountain, and a splash of yummy-ness from Paso Robles, any one of these components could have stood on its own as an outstanding wine. But blending them together? Pure magic! Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Note: Dark garnet-purple with a magenta rim. High pitched, explosive aromas of blackberry, smoked game, black olives, and violets leap from the glass. Very Syrah! The wine enters full and rich, with flavors of blackberry and violet enveloping the tongue. Suave tannins from mid-palate through the finish provide plenty of clarity and cut. Delicious now, optimum drinking should be between release and 2017. (MRO – 3/15/11)
